
Gerold, known to his many friends as Jerry, was born on November 13, 1939, in Dodge City, Kansas to Harold Irwin Bjork and Grace Haugland-Bjork. Jerry’s life and career took many directions. He served in the US Army Reserves and was working as a security guard at Wichita State University when he met and married Linda Johnson with whom he had two sons, Jerry and James (Jim). After holding various sales and service jobs, Jerry began working for Davis Manufacturing, eventually attaining the position of International Sales Manager. During his time with Davis, Jerry traveled the world eventually landing in Denver, Colorado where he felt most at home. Later, Jerry embraced his entrepreneurial spirit and became a small business owner. He retired as owner of a successful moving services company and enjoyed his later years, skiing, RVing, and spending time with friends.
One of Jerry’s proudest accomplishments was earning a Master of Psychology degree and working with the cancer support group at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado. A cancer survivor himself, Jerry had a natural rapport with patients and provided solace, compassion and hope to countless people dealing with the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Virginia (Ginnie) Bjork of Aurora, CO.; longtime companion Patti Axtel of Aurora, CO.; Son James (Jim) and wife Jennifer Bjork of Saginaw, MN along with their blended family of children and grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jack V. Bjork and James I Bjork, sister Jane. R Kaiser, and Son Jerry Bjork.
