Gilbert Cruz, retired Army, 83, passed away May 7, 2011. He was born on April 18, 1928 in Aguilar, Colorado. Gil was military retired with 42 years of government service. Gil had a deep devotion to his country and his flag and was honored to be one of the select veterans to serve in WWII, Korea, and the Vietnam War. Gil is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Anita L. Cruz. He is also survived by his two sons, Ron and Robert Cruz; as well as 3 step-children, Ron Lopez, Sonya Wisnesky, and Debbie Waddell. He enjoyed many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011. The viewing will begin at 8:30AM with services to follow at 9:00AM at Olinger Highland Mortuary, Thornton, Colorado. Interment will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area "C" at 11:15AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alsheimer's Association or Disabled American Veterans in Gil's honor.
