Gilbert Romero, “John” as he went by, was born on August 23, 1961 to Gilbert and Dahlia Romero in Cheyenne Wyoming. The first of six kids, Geraldine, Bernadette, Debbie, Sheryl and Kenneth followed soon after to complete the family. Cheyenne also included lots of aunts and uncles and cousins so there was always someone to play with or ride motorcycles with. He attended grade school, middle school and most of high school in Cheyenne. He did attend one year at Menaul High school in Albuquerque where he met his wife of 43 years, Dorothy.
Dorothy and John married in August of 1979. They have two daughters, Chasity (Carmaine)and Lori (Ian). He was a great father, whether coaching or disciplining…he knew how to do it. He now has 5 grandchildren, Mercedes, Addison, Markez, Mariah and Abaigeal and one great granddaughter, Lucy whom were the apple of his eyes.
John loved riding motorcycles, eagles (the birds), the Broncos and of course the Washington Redskins. He also very much enjoyed vacationing in Cancun and Puerto Vallarta. He also loved spending time up at the cabin in Florissant.
He was a very hard working man from the age of 17 and provided for his family very well. He was also a very kind and good man and will be missed by all of his family and friends.
Think of John whenever you see an eagle. He’s soaring with them now.
Rest In Peace John, we will always love you.
