

Grant was born on October 26, 1954, and lived in Minnesota until, at the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Will Rogers SSBN 659 for 10 years as Chief Electrical Engineer. After the Navy, he worked in the nuclear industry in various places, including the Savannah River Site, Riverbend Station, Sandia National Labs, Rocky Flats and Los Alamos.
His interests were many. He took 2nd place in the Breckenridge, Colorado Tae-Kwon-Do Championships, and was active as a volunteer firefighter, a soccer coach for young boys in Louisanna, playing ice hockey in Minnesota, skiing in Colorado, camping, hiking, swimming, gardening, building stuff, landscaping, bird watching, playing billiards, building and flying remote control airplanes and much more. He enjoyed and loved life to the fullest. Grant loved everyone, especially family, and would do anything and everything for anyone.
Grant was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Statham Valentine; and his younger brother Eric Valentine. Grant is survived by his wife Johnina Holmes Valentine; and her children and grandchildren: Brett, Desiree, Tyler, & Brooklyn Barzelatto; his father David & stepmother, Georgia Valentine; his siblings, Kyle, Kim, ZoeAnn and Judd; his children & grandchildren: Michelle, Brian, Colton, and Preslie; and his son Derek.
Grant was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
