Harold Richard Prewett

September 6, 1941 – June 20, 2025

Harold R. “Dick” Prewett, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Denver, Colorado on June 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He passed away due to complications from COPD.

Born on September 6, 1941, in Collbran, Colorado, Dick was the son of Harold N. Prewett and Iris G. Prewett. He was raised in Mesa, Colorado, where he grew up working on the family farm — an experience that shaped his strong work ethic, appreciation for nature, and lifelong love of the outdoors.

After graduating from Mesa State College, Dick went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army. He received an honorable discharge and carried with him the quiet pride of his service for the rest of his life. On August 26, 1967, he married Barri Dee “Dee” Prewett, and together they built a life rooted in love, respect, and commitment.

Dick had a long and steady career, working for Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Quest, and later Lumen. He was known for his reliability and willingness to help others — qualities that extended well beyond the workplace.

Outside of work, Dick was happiest with a fishing pole in hand or exploring the mountains of Colorado with family and friends. He loved hunting, gold panning, and simply being outdoors.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Dick’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his sons, Eric Prewett and his wife Kara Prewett and Chris Prewett and his wife Audra Prewett; grandchildren Marissa and Brian Allen, Alexandria and Jacob Williams, Rebecca Prewett, Hailey Prewett, and Makayla Prewett; and great-grandchildren Andrew Williams, Noah Williams, Matthew Williams, and Adaline Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Iris Prewett, and his sister, Peg Fleming.

Dick will be remembered for his kind heart, strong values, and the quiet strength he brought to everyone who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, and family will live on through all who were fortunate enough to know him.
