September 30, 1930 – November 22, 2013
Jack ended his time on this earth and entered the presence of his personal Lord and Savior on November 22, 2013. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 58 wonderful years, Billie June (Hamilton). Jack will be dearly missed by his children and their families: Janet and her children Jayden and Jack; Patrick and Randa and their children Jessica and Blake; John and Dawn and their daughters Kaitlyn, Camryn and Courtney; and Mark and Lisa and their daughters Lilah (“Cricket”) and Lucy. Jack is also survived by his brother, Jim Brannon of South Carolina, and many close friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Irene Boyles, and his father, Houston B. Hughes Sr. Jack was a graduate of Denham Springs High School and long-time Baton Rouge resident, a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Borden Chemical and spent most of his retirement years living in Westminster, CO. Jack was a strong Christian and member of Tri-City Baptist Church in Westminster. He was a loving and caring person who never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He loved both Colorado and Louisiana sports and was a big LSU Tiger fan. Jack loved to spend time with his family and to travel, combining the two into many wonderful family vacations. He enjoyed fishing with his son Mark and they shared special fly fishing trips together. His favorite thing to do was to visit his kids and love on his grandkids. Jack was the best husband and father ever and we miss him greatly. Thanks to the promises of the Bible we know we will be reunited and look forward to spending eternity together.
