Imogene G. Kelley, 97, passed away on December 22, 2012 at the Assisted Living in Arvada, Colorado. She was born November 29, 1915 on a farm near Sedan, Kansas to Henry and Juba (Kendall) Kirchner. She was the youngest of five children. Imogene attended Ross City School from 1st through 8th and went to Sedan Highland School graduating in 1934. She married Arthur W. Kelley in 1936 and to this union 4 children were born; Robert H. in 1937, Gary A. in 1939, Gwendolyn J. in 1949, and Donald L. in 1943. She, Arthur, and children made their home near Sedan until the summer of 1953 when they moved to Colorado (Denver area). Arthur was employed as a mechanic at the D. C. Trucking Company until retirement. In 1963 they moved to Northglenn. It was home for the next 47 years. Imogene was a homemaker. She loved sewing, crocheting and knitting and kept it up until 1 month before her death. She made many many quilts, baby blankets, dish cloths, rag rugs, doilies, aprons, and knitted sweaters for all the grandchildren. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren ("the wee ones") so much; Mark, Shirley, Marla, Gary D., Linda, Steven, Christa, David, Kevin, Daniel, & Christopher; and in the later years the 16 great-grandchildren that came along. Also through the years Imogene owned and loved many pets - to name a few dogs - Sissy, Terri, Angel, Bunn, and the last was Buffy and even a very mean Siamese cat many years ago (don;t remember the name, but it could have been Lucifer!). At the Assisted Living she enjoyed watching the geese and squirrels outside her window. Imogene had a terrible fall in January of 2010 and suffered a broken neck and even at the age of 95 she had an amazing recovery! Imogene was preceded in death by husband Arthur of 57 years, her parents and siblings, and recently a daughter-in-law Joanne Kelley. She is survived by sons Robert Kelley of Lakewood, CO, Gary (Annetta) Kelley of Sedan, KS, Donald (Janice) Kelley of Dallas, TX and daughter Gwendolyn J. (Mac) Peters of Arvada, CO and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In closing it has to be mentioned about how frugal our mother and grandmother was; she could pinch a penny harder than anyone we knew! She was a saver all her life (in all ways!). So we have to say that Mom we will miss you and we love you now and now rest in peace. So There!
