

from complications due to advanced age. She was ninety-six years and one month old.
Irene was born on a farm south of Auburn, Nebraska to Benjamin and Martha Gerdes on
October 18, 1925. She moved to Auburn during World War II taking a job as a telephone
operator. After the war, she married a returning veteran Floyd Donald "Don" Rebuck. From this
union two sons were born.
Irene moved to the Denver area in 1961 and continued working as a telephone operator to
raise her sons as a single parent. Once her sons were grown, Irene married Daryl Buford Jones
and transferred to the Mountain Bell Telephone Company corporate headquarters as a clerk
eventually retiring as a supervisor.
Daryl and Irene enjoyed their retirement traveling in their RV and spending summers in the
Denver area and winters in Mesa, Arizona.
After Daryl's death, Irene moved to Mesa Arizona where she married Clair Jerome Risban. Irene
and Clair continued a traveling lifestyle eventually settling in the Las Vegas Nevada, area. Upon
Clair's death, Irene moved back to Mesa and enjoyed an active independent retirement.
Due to medical issues in 2018, Irene moved into assisted living in Fallon, Nevada to be near
family. She passed away in her sleep. Irene is survived by two grateful sons, a daughter in law,
two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on January 3, 2022 with inurnment next to Daryl at Olinger Highland Cemetery in Thornton, Colorado.
