Irma Ames passed away on October 25th, 2025, at the age of 95 in Broomfield, CO. Irma was the devoted wife of Philip Ames, beloved mother of Glen Ames, Fran Fisher, Dale Kline and Jo Tucker. Mother-in-law of Claudia, Barry, Rich and Jeff. Grandmother of Lauren Ames, Eric Ames, Adam Fisher, Megan Fisher, Mallory Stevens, Jessica Moses and Allison Herbert. Great grandmother to Kinley, Grant, Quinn, Sophie, Charlotte, Darcie, Cooper, and a baby to be here soon.
Irma was born and raised in Borough Park, Brooklyn, then on marrying Philip moved with their growing family to Springfield, NJ. Later Irma and Phil also lived in Northport, NY; Escondido, CA, downtown San Diego and finally Colorado.
Irma was a Hebrew school teacher for forty years. She enjoyed healthy eating, making amazing needlepoint artworks, mahjong, and word games. Always fashionably dressed (Chico’s was her favorite store!), Irma’s hair and nails were impeccable at all times. She never feared learning and using new technology, embracing the latest iPhones and other electronics.
Irma always had a knack for making friends easily, and everyone she met during her long life loved her. She just had a way about her...
She and Phil recently enjoyed their 75th wedding anniversary in a festive celebration with family and friends from around the country.
Irma will be honored in a private service and will be forever greatly missed by all of us who were so fortunate to have had her in our orbit.
Donations in Irma’s name can be made to the American Heart Association or United Jewish Appeal.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, located at 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO, 80229, US. The service is scheduled for October 30, 2025, from 11:00 am to 11:45 am.
