

Born October 5, 1932, in Hillsboro, Wisconsin. Graduated in 1950; enlisted in the Air Force in March of 1951. Graduated from Aircraft Control and Warning School, Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi; Air Police school, Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida; and Photo Intelligence/Map Compiling at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Served in Japan and Korea with HQ Squadron, 3rd Bomb Wing, 5th Air Force Intelligence Section.
After discharge in March, 1955, he attended Wisconsin State Teachers College, Lacrosse, during 1955, 1956, and 1957, he was recalled to active duty through the reserves. Assigned duties at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, in Photo Intelligence and as Base Disaster Control NCO.
He was selected for the Air Commandos in February 1962 and assigned to the Jungle Jim program at 4400 CCTS, Hurlburt Field, Florida, April 8, 1962. He had two tours of duty at Det. 2A, Bien Hoa, being severely injured in 1963. Unable to pass his re-enlistment physical, he was discharged in December. Since then he worked in the Post Office, retiring in 1987 after 36 years of government service.
82, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2015 in Canon City, Colorado. Jim is survived by his loving family; Maggie his wife of 44 years, son Kevin Knadle, daughter Shaun Woody, daughter Ruby (Ron) Lamb, sister Doris (Richard) Sweeney, two grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Kurt Kraig Knadle, and his parents; James and Evelyn Knadle.

Jim will be laid to rest at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 455 Sherman St., #500, Denver, CO 80203.
