After graduating from Heelan High School, James joined the United States Navy. Following his service to the United States, he went to the University of South Dakota and graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Mathematics.
James worked for US West and his career took him from Iowa to Denver to Seattle and finally back to the Denver area. Following retirement, he settled in Englewood, Colorado and spent time with family and friends.
James is survived by his brother Tom (Rose) Meyer, sister Mary (Greg) Corey and sister-in-law Jenny Meyer, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Leonora Meyer and his brother John Meyer.
Visitation, and Vigil and Rosary will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Olinger Highland Mortuary located at 10201 Grant Street, in Thornton, Colorado. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM followed immediately by the Vigil and Rosary at 6:30 PM.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Spirit of Christ Catholic Church located at 7400 West 80th Avenue in Arvada, Colorado.
