After graduating from East High School in 1965, he married Maureen Terry on June 16th, 1966. He entered the army soon after in 1966 and served in Vietnam through 1968. Jim worked for Adams Automatic Sprinklers throughout his career and retired in 2004. He belonged to the Local 669 Sprinkler Fitters Union.
He loved fishing, boating, rooting for the Broncos, NASCAR racing, and car shows. Above all, though, he loved his family. He was married to his wife Maureen for 56 years and was affectionately known as “Papa” to his grandchildren. He could often be found hosting holiday parties from behind the bar or cooking up his famous meatballs, sausages, and lasagna.
He was preceded in death by his parents James (Jim) and Dorothy who he missed dearly. He is survived by his wife Maureen, brothers Rick Sr. and Daryl, sons David and James Jr. (Jimmy) and grandchildren Cammera, Devin, and Christopher, plus numerous other relatives and friends. He was going to become a great-grandfather to a baby girl later this year.
Jim will be laid to rest on Wednesday, August 17th 2022. Services will start at 10am at the Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant Street Denver, CO 80229. Interment and graveside will follow services at Olinger Highland Cemetery.
