He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane; sons, Robert (Cara) Schmidt and David (Denise) Schmidt; grandchildren, Breeana, Gracelyn, Marissa, Mica, Cortez and Zane; and sister, Sarah (Donald) Boggs.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and M. Agnes Schmidt.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Olinger Highland Mortuary Chapel, 10201 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado. He will be recognized with military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado, having served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for four years.
Jim, a chemical engineer by profession, especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, and living in Colorado. He even had a license to hunt elk with his nephew Ron this fall. Jim was known for his success in growing beautiful violets.
