Janice “Jan” Irene East Trantham, 80, of Thornton, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026. Born on February 10, 1946, in Trinidad, Colorado, Jan lived a full and purposeful life rooted deeply in her faith, family, and friendships.
Jan loved Jesus and everyone around her with her whole heart. While she held several roles throughout her career, she spent over 20 years serving as a dedicated billing specialist for a local pediatrician’s office before her retirement.
For 37 wonderful years, Jan was married to the love of her life, Bob. Together, they built a beautiful life in Aurora, Colorado, where Jan remained for many years following his passing in 2008. In 2025, she relocated to a senior living community in Thornton.
An avid sports fan, Jan loved cheering on the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos, and college basketball. When she wasn't watching a game or enjoying a paint-by-number project, Jan’s true hobby was people. She loved her family and friends with a passion that was second to none, taking immense care to stay connected with everyone in her life. Her faith and community were central to who she was; she was an active participant of Community Bible Study for years and deeply enjoyed participating in a Bible study within her senior living community. Jan also had a great love for live music and could frequently be found happily attending the musical performances held right there in her community.
Jan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert J. Trantham, Jr., and her parents, Maurice L. East and Irene Pedri East.
She is survived by her brother, Maurice A. East. Her legacy of love lives on through her daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Ben Strand, and Sara and Brandon DeGolier. She also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren—Theodore, Nicole, Morgan, Madeline, Violet, and Luke—and her great-grandson, Zachary.
May Jan find eternal peace and rest in God's loving arms, joyfully reunited with those who went before her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jan’s memory to Colorado Community Church (14000 E. Jewell Ave., Aurora, CO 80012). Please note 'In Memory of Janice Trantham' on the check memo line.
