Ecclesiastes 3:1-13
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to throw away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war and a time for peace.
What gain have the workers from their toil? I have seen the business that God has given to everyone to be busy with. He has made everything suitable for its time; moreover he has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live; moreover, it is God's gift that all should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil
Psalm 27
The Lord is my light and my salvation
The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom should I fear?
The Lord is my light and my salvation
The Lord is my life’s refuge;
Of whom should I be afraid?
The Lord is my light and my salvation
One thing I ask of the Lord;
this I seek:
To dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life.
That I may gaze on the loveliness of the Lord
and Contemplate his temple.
The Lord is my light and my salvation
Hear, O Lord, the sound of my call;
Have pitty on me, and answer me.
Your presence, O Lord, I seek.
hide not you face from me.
The Lord is my light and my salvation
I believe that I shall see the bounty of the Lord
in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord with courage;
be stouthearted, and wait for the Lord.
The Lord is my light and my salvation
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind.
Love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude.
It does not seek its own interest,
it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury.
Love does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.
It bears all things, believes in all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails.
Miss Me, But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road,
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low;
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me... …but let me go.
For this the journey that we all must take,
And each must go alone.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
Miss me… … but let me go.

I LOVE ALL OF YOU
Do not weep when I am no longer around,
I will be in a better place.
Do not weep when I cannot answer,
I will be there in spirit.
Do not weep during the day,
God will look out for all of you.
Do not weep during the night,
The sun will rise and bring light.
Do not weep when you look at the sky,
The eagles will be flying so high.
Do not weep when you feel a gentle breeze,
You will know my presence is near.
Do not weep over me,
For I have gone ahead,
To lead the way
To a better place.
Love Rob
Eulogy 2
Hello everyone, my name is Ryan Miller, and I am one of Jerry Knutson's grandsons. I would like to begin my words of remembrance today with a quote. "Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones shines down to let us know they are happy".
I have a certain memory I'd like to share with you all today. About a year and three months ago, I had just clocked on for work at Target, when another team member approached me and informed me that there was someone waiting out by the cafe that wanted to speak with me. Naturally, I was baffled as I usually don't get requests like that. Nonetheless, I walked out to the cafe and immediately realized what was going on. My grandma was standing waiting to greet me. She had traveled all the way from Colorado for my Eagle Scout court of honor. After embracing and saying hello she looked at me and said something along the lines of
"Have you noticed anything yet?" While nonchalantly nodding behind her. At first I was confused, because I was under the impression only grandma was coming. And that's when I saw him standing there. My grandfather was standing there, with a look I can best describe as genuinely loving, happy, and a tad mischievous.
That's one of many memories I will always hold dear, as well as showing who my grandfather was as a person. He cared immensely and endlessly about others, and was always there for you.
In scouts, we are taught; and we live by the scout law. That is that a scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. Coming into scouts, this law was fairly easy and simple for me to live by. After my Eagle ceremony, I realized why that was so. My grandfather exhibited all of these traits every day of his life, and helped to teach and influence me to live by those traits and live a life of integrity and value. Whether it be helping Grandma with household endeavors or answering questions for me he was always there. He was always willing to help anyone. Papa was always kind and cheerful. He always found joy and hope in any situation, and treated everyone with a heart of gold. He was also one of the bravest men I knew. Fighting and beating cancer, facing countless setbacks, and standing up for what was right. My grandfather was many things. A great son, sibling, a loving husband, caring father, joyful grandfather, and a kind and loyal friend. But above all else he was a great man in every and all aspect; one I hope I become as I grow older.
So today I wear my Eagle Scout uniform in honor of my grandfather. He inspired me to become the best leader, scout, and person I can be, and I know he's inspired countless others to do the same. Now, I have another quote to close on, one that I find to be true and comforting.
"In one sense there is no death. The life of a soul on earth lasts beyond departure. You will always feel that life touching yours, that voice speaking to you. He lives on in your life, and in the lives of all others that knew him".
So today join me in celebrating and remembering the life of Jerry Knutson. Be comforted by the fact that he lives on in all of us, and we carry his lessons and our happy memories of him wherever life takes us.
Thank you
The metaphor of the Tree
People in your life are like different components of a tree. Many people come and go like leaves with the change of seasons. Some are good some are bad yet they all contribute overall to you as a whole. Then you have your friends and family who support you and raise you up, much like a trees branches. They are strong and sturdy and you hold onto them for as long as possible. If a tree loses a branch it is scarred but in time will heal over, much like when you lose a loved one or a friendship fails.
But there are those few individuals that are there from the beginning, that feed you with knowledge and love, and nurture you throughout your entire life, helping you become strong and bear the hardships that life throws your way. These rare people in your life are often not noticed by others, but you know they are there and hold on to their support, love, and bathe in their nourishment. This correlates to a tree's roots.
So there are those that are fleeting, those that are able to leave you, yet those who help build you up, never truly leave you, who are in fact the roots that keep you grounded during life. Such is the case of Jerry Knutson.
