Jerry graduated from Billings West High School in 1966. He later attended Eastern Montana College and Northwest Bible College.
In 2016, he retired from Adams County School District #14 where he served as a school bus driver and grounds maintenance worker. It was in this work that Jerry’s passion for caring for stray animals was born. Every morning his first job was to provide food and water for the strays. He also volunteered with Ally Cat Allies where he would trap/release and have spayed the females to prevent future strays.
Jerry’s passion was his family. He raised his two sons with the deepest of love. He was generous beyond his means and would never think twice about helping those in need. Jerry loved to be in wild. He instilled a love for nature in his boys through countless adventures in Colorado and Montana. He later continued to share this love with his three grandchildren. He also deeply loved his sister and cared for her at the end of her life.
Jerry also loved Debbie Roth with whom he lived with for many years. He enjoyed being a part of her family.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Carmen, his brother Dean, his sister Sandi, his granddaughter Eliana, and his partner Debbie Roth.
Jerry is survived by his brother Dwight, sons Jason and Joshua, two grandchildren Mikayla and Zebadiah, and two great grandsons Daniel and Jacob.
The family would like to thank Skylake Post Acute and Dignity Hospice of Colorado for the care and compassion they showed Jerry in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Olinger Highland Mortuary in Thornton, Colorado on November 23, 2025, at 10:00 am. Followed by a private family reception.
Jerry remains much loved and is missed greatly by his family.
