Joan Marie Sciacca, beloved wife of James “Jim” Sciacca, peacefully passed away on April 19th, 2024, at the age of 83. Joan was born on August 14th, 1940 to Joseph “Joe” and Theresa "Ann' Blasi in Trinidad, Colorado. Devoted mother to her children, Cindy (Keith) Busch, Pamela (George) Morrison, and Chad (Brandie) Sciacca. Grandmother "Nana" to Nicole Oudenhoven, Steven Busch, Alysha (Patrick) Busch-Paranto, Carly Morrison, Dustin Morrison and Anniston "Anni" Sciacca, and a great-grandmother to Emalee Avery Nicole Halliday, Emmylou Busch and Parker Paranto.
Growing up on a farm, Joan attended Lincoln Elementary and Sopris High School. In her youth, she was always active in 4-H. During high school she was a Majorette, a member of the Pocahontas lodge and involved in student leadership and numerous clubs. Joan attended Trinidad State Junior College, where she earned her AA in Business.
Joan and Jim first met during their college years and shared a love that lasted a lifetime. They were united in marriage on October 1,1960, and embarked on a journey together, relocating to Westminster from Trinidad to build their life. They would set down roots and live in the same neighborhood for the past 64 years.
Throughout her life, Joan was a beacon of love and support for her family. She was a devoted loving wife to Jim and giving mother to her 3 children. Joan nurtured strong relationships wherever she was! She had a wide circle of friends who cherished her company and had an enormous spirit of service as an active member of her community. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her children's lives, consistently taking on roles such as room mom, team mom, and PTA President during each of their school years. She was her children's biggest cheerleader! She served as the Secretary of the Bowling League and participated in various activities at Holy Trinity Church, where she counted money, helped with church bazaars, was a member of the Martha's and attended services on Sundays for 64 years. She loved to garden, preserve food, crochet, knit, sew, craft, and most of all she was a master at cooking and entertaining!
Joan was funny and understanding, clever and courageous. She always had a unique ability to care about everyone and everything all the time. She could be sensitive while displaying an uncanny common sense. She loved solving puzzles. She knew how to celebrate life! She and her three sisters would always go on their annual Las Vegas trip after their mother had passed and they would laugh the nights away!
Joan was resilient and strong, even with complications due to diabetes in her later years. Despite many setbacks, she was working towards walking again and practicing standing in hopes of returning home.
Joan Marie Sciacca leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication. She cherished her loved ones as they cherished her and the light she passed onto them will carry on in the world. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Joan was a sweet soul, who is now an angel by our side.
