September 14, 1941November 18, 2020

Joe Aranda, 79, died peacefully on November 18, 2020.

Joe was born September 14, 1941 in Denver, Colorado the son of the late Paul Sr. and Cora (Montoya) Aranda. Joe was the 4th oldest of the Aranda children. He was preceded in death by sister Rosie (Herman) Garner and brother Paul Aranda, Joe is survived by siblings Rachel Aranda, Robert (Esther) Aranda, Betty Williams, Stella (Richard) Gomez, Maurice (Lynda) Aranda, and Arthur (JoAnn) Aranda. Joe graduated from Manuel High School in Denver, Colorado in 1959. He served in the US Army both Active Duty and Reserve and was Honorably Discharged in December 1969. Joe worked for the IBM Corporation in Boulder, Colorado and was transferred to the Tucson, Arizona plant in 1978. Joe and family were lucky enough to be transferred with life-long friends – John and Lorraine Cooper. Joe retired from the IBM Corporation after 27 years of service to them. He was not ready to be “retired” yet when he went through Correction Officer Training and worked at the Tucson, Arizona Work Release Jail Program for over three years. Joe is also survived by his two loving children Shawn Aranda and Laura (Chris) Border, and their mother, Kathy Aranda. Joe was very loved by his four grandchildren – David Shawn Aranda, Jr., Tristen Thompson, McKenzie Thompson, and Jessica Border. Joe had “bonus” grandkids that he cared for very much- Gabriella (Ty) Harris, Nicholas Baracz, and Kinsey Auckly. Joe had many nieces and nephews that he not only adored but would do anything for. Joe loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, golfer, and fisherman. Joe was a man of few words but loved to sing. He recorded a song titled “Addio Addio” as a young man that was professionally produced and made into a 45-record. When his four-legged best friend, Rags was alive, Joe and Rags took daily walks. Joe’s only wish was to be reunited with his pal one day. He always rooted for Raiders as his favorite football team, but we all knew it was just to spite us. Joe also loved to watch his TV – he spent his last moments finishing his latest Netflix binge, NCIS. “See you later, alligator!” Services for Joe Aranda will be on December 4, 2020 at 1:00pm.
