Roy was known for his entrepreneurial spirit. Alongside his brothers, he owned and operated several service stations throughout the Denver area. He also ran restaurants and bars across the city, creating welcoming spaces where people gathered for good food, conversation, and connection. Later in life, Roy worked as a bus driver for RTD, where he was a proud member of the ATU 1001, until his retirement.
In his free time, Roy enjoyed watching his beloved New York Yankees, spending evenings bowling, and sharing a cold beer with friends and family. He had a warm presence, an easy smile, and a gift for making people feel at home.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bustamante, and his parents, Benito and Sadie Bustamante. He is survived by his brothers, Bennie P. Bustamante Sr. and George Bustamante Sr.; his children, Joe Bustamante and his wife Clarice Bustamante, Mark Bustamante, Karen Bustamante, and Lisa Hurtado; his grandchildren, Erin Bustamante-Trinidad and her husband Joshua Trinidad, Venus Sanchez, and Andres Sanchez; and his great-grandchildren, Joe Harder Bustamante and Ceora Bustamante-Trinidad.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Northglenn Heights for the care and compassion they showed Roy during the last year of his life.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery on November 29th at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception.
