Josie M. Garcia

Josie M. Garcia, age 97, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025. Born on September 20, 1927, in Berthoud, Colorado, Josie was raised in Denver, Colorado. She was the beloved daughter of Patricia Nuanes and August Garcia.

Josie’s life was marked by love, dedication, and a generous spirit. She was married to Luis Romero and together, they shared 55 years of love and companionship. Luis was the love of her life, and their bond was one that lasted through the many years they spent together.

A woman with many passions, Josie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved shopping at Walmart, tending to her plants, and indulging in candy, bingo, and scratch tickets. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and friends, who will forever hold her memory close.

Josie was a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Torres (Conrad), her son, Joe Gonzales (Butch), her sister Lucy Gonzales, her grandchildren Chrissy Gonzales, Tina Gonzales, and Vanessa Gonzales, her great-grandchildren Jasmine Gonzales, Taylor Castillo, Averi Castillo, Gabriel Candeleria, Jade Candeleria, and her great-great-grandchildren Luis Gonzalez, Ezabella Gonzalez, Elijah Candeleria, and Romeo Valero.

She was predeceased by her son Bernard Gonzales, her parents Patricia Nuanes and August Garcia, and her siblings Raymond Nuanes, Mike Garcia, Louie Garcia (Hito), Rose Martinez, Angie Sanchez, and Gloria Ulibarri.

A rosary for Josie will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229. A visitation will occur Monday, February 17, 2025 from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, A Rosary will be held at 6:00 pm. A Catholic Mass dedicated to her honor will occur Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 11:00 AM at St Mark Catholic Church, 3141 W 96th Ave, Westminster, CO 80031.
