

Juanita was born on February 28, 1948 to Fernando and Mary Ornelas in Sutherland, Nebraska. After graduating from Hershey High School in 1966, she went on to attend trade school in Chicago. After graduation she worked in informational technology at Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies in Northglenn, Colorado. After leaving Lucent Technologies, Juanita worked for United Airlines for 10 years.
While living in Colorado, she met her future husband Ted Barajas, and they wed in July of 1970, going on to have one daughter, Tricia Barajas.
Following the loss of her husband, Ted Barajas, in 1991, she met Clarence Yoder and spent many years as his longtime companion.
After retiring at the age of 50, Juanita spent her time enjoying hobbies and interests to include sewing, listening to music, watching the Broncos, gardening, crafting, volunteering at Children’s Hospital, and spending time with her beloved daughter Tricia.
Juanita will always be remembered as a dedicated wife and mother who touched many lives. She was known as a positive, good-hearted, kind, “sweet” woman with a beautiful smile.
Juanita was predeceased by her husband Ted Barajas and her parents Fernando and Mary Ornelas.
She is survived by longtime companion Clarence Yoder of Bennett, Colorado, daughter Tricia Barajas of Colorado Springs, grand dog Molly of Colorado Springs, brother Vincent Ornelas of North Platte, Nebraska, sister Bessie Waldrep of Cherokee, Oklahoma, friend Tess Livingston of Colorado Springs, longtime friend Helene Nichols, many friends at Legend Assisted Living in Colorado Springs, and numerous other family and friends.
Juanita and her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and support staff who took part in her care at UC Health Memorial North Hospital, Kaiser Lone Tree, Kaiser Briargate, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Legend Assisted Living of Colorado Springs, and Abode Hospice. Your kindness will forever be remembered!
Services will be held on Saturday, November 13th at 1:00 pm at Olinger Highland Mortuary located at 10201 Grant St., Thornton, Colorado 80229. Reception to follow.
The family of Juanita asks that attendees celebrate her life by wearing light or Bronco blue or other fun, bright colors to the service.
