Kellie LaRell Mitchell, 64, of Thornton, CO, passed away on September 1, 2023. She was born on October 10, 1958, in Nampa, Idaho. Her parents Jesse O. Hiatt and Helen M. Hazen welcomed this adorable child.
Kellie was known for her determination to fight for life. Recognized for her kind and generous nature, her sense of humor, and her athletic and creative abilities. She had a loving and proud personality that touched the lives of many. Kellie will be deeply missed by those who had the pleasure of meeting her.
Kellie attended Marsing High School and earned a Business Degree at Fresno State College. She had a successful career as an Instructional Designer. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of having her own business - Aperture Art Productions, Inc. One of her notable achievements was the Documentary "Flying Queens: A Basketball Dynasty" as the Writer, Director, Producer, and Camerawoman.
In her youth, Kellie worshipped at a Christian church and taught Sunday School. She found solace and guidance in her faith.
She had a passion for travel and had the opportunity to explore Italy, Thailand, London, Hawaii, and many other places. In her free time, Kellie enjoyed various hobbies such as photography, playing volleyball, polo, mountain biking, reading, watching movies and playing board games.
Kellie also loved music. She was a vocalist in her band and enjoyed playing the trumpet, guitar and keyboard. She also co-wrote songs for the band.
Among other things, Kellie loved the great outdoors and wildlife. She never lost her delight in visiting our national and state parks. She loved animals, especially her pets which ranged from cats, dogs, hamsters and a horse.
Kellie will be remembered for her glorious smile, vibrant spirit, loving nature, and her numerous accomplishments. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her devoted partner Viola Duran; her chosen family, honorary daughter Jill Locken (Andy), grandchildren Warren Paul and Teagan Ann. She is also survived by her Uncle Les Hazen of Boise, ID, sister Zoe Ella Jerome of Caldwell, ID, nieces Shelli Baker (Mike) of Marsing, ID, Cindy Wood (Mike) Coeur d’Alene, ID, and nephew Phillip Hiatt (Donna) Marsing, ID, and Brian Jerome (Trish) and numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her beloved son Brad Mitchell, parents, sister Ona Jean Rauch, brother-in-law Paul Rauch, and brother Jesse Howard Hiatt.
Memorial service celebrating Kellie’s life will be held from 11 AM to 3 PM, Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Brittany Hill, 9350 Grant St. in Thornton, 80229.
