Kelly Walsh, 46, son, brother and dear friend to many, died peacefully at home on February 21, 2019 after giving cancer one great battle. He embraced the loyalty of his relationships with family and friends, many that witnessed his peaceful transition to his next journey.
Kelly will be lovingly remembered and survived by his parents, Pat and Marilynn, his brother Scott (Lysa), sister Bonnie (Neil), and by his girlfriend Kathi and her children Michael and Lacey. Kelly will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many dear friends.
Loved ones that cleared the path are his younger brother Dan.
Kelly was born in New Jersey but grew up in Colorado. He attended Thornton High School and Regis University, creating many life-long friendships along the way. When Kelly was just a teenager, he worked at Water World, a place most people think of for fun water rides, but for Kelly this was a place where dear friendships started and will live on through endless memories. Kelly was a true friend to his friends and had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He was a truly delightful, generous, easy-going, fun-loving human being that always wanted everyone he cared about to be happy.
Kelly loved to attend events of all kinds. He mastered the craft of selfies by doing so, and created many wonderful memories with family and friends. He loved sports (professional and college), golfing, travelling, and was not one to miss out on any noteworthy concert.
Kelly truly lived life to the fullest, making even simple pleasures grand memories. He cared about people in the purest way, especially his girlfriend, Kathi. He loved them for who they were and because he wished the best for them, without guile and without asking anything in return. To watch him battle a vicious disease with such courage and quiet dignity, with a dash of stubbornness, was a true testament to his amazing character.
Kelly had so much goodness, so much capacity to bring happiness to others and such a bright future. The world is a lesser place without him. Family, friends, and others whose lives Kelly touched are invited to the Blake Street Tavern on March 9th from 1:00 – 5:00 pm to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, laugh to keep the light of Kelly’s spirit going.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Kelly’s honor to the Melanoma Research Foundation (www.melanoma.org). They also ask that you keep Kelly’s memory alive, live every day to the fullest, never forget the power of a smile and do what’s right and do what’s good. Be kind and help others. The world can always use one more kind person.
Fond memories of Kelly and expressions of sympathy for his family may be shared at the guest book below.
