

Celebration of Life will be held August 17th @ 11:00 am in Thornton, CO under the direction of the Olinger Highland Mortuary and Cemetery. The Celebration of Life will be conducted by Pastor Cris Crisfield. A Reception gathering at Olinger Highland will follow the services.
Marilyn was the firstborn to Viola and Leonard Sudbeck at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD on March 27th 1948. Marilyn grew up in Hartington, NE where she attended Holy Trinity Grade School and Cedar Catholic High School.
Upon being awarded the Regent’s scholarship, Marilyn moved to Lincoln, NE where she attended teacher’s College at UNL majoring in Math and earning her degree. While in Lincoln she worked at Max Miller Camera’s where she took the business from a small business to a prosperous multi outlet business. Marilyn moved to Colorado and received her master’s degree in advertising at the University of Denver. Marilyn went on to become a Certified Public Accountant in 1997. Marilyn worked for several accounting firms in the Denver area. Marilyn also specialized in Quick Books installation, setup, and training since 1995. She was a Top 100 ranked Pro Advisor and a member of Intuit’s Professionals Trainer Network. In 2003 Marilyn left the corporate world and started her own CPA firm consulting with QuickBooks software.
Marilyn met her future husband, Dave Fickel, in a Colorado ski club and were married in Golden CO in 2002. Marilyn and Dave greatly enjoyed traveling by cruise ships to many different countries around the world. They were also able to travel to many of the national parks around the country for many years.
Because Marilyn always greatly valued education, she was instrumental in creating, funding and sustaining a Robotics class at Cedar Catholic High School in her Nebraska hometown.
Marilyn was very proud to be from Nebraska. She found joy in meeting anyone from Nebraska and talking about growing up in small farming communities and living in Lincoln.
Marilyn is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Dave Fickel, Broomfield CO; Sister, Marguerite Hansen, Omaha, NE; Brothers, Marcel Sudbeck, Hartington, NE, Cedric & LouAnn Sudbeck, Crofton,NE and Stanley & Cheryl Sudbeck, Hartington, NE and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Viola and Leonard Sudbeck and a brother Michael.
Memorial contributions are suggested for the American Cancer Society and Cedar Catholic High School in Marilyn’s memory.
