MaryLou McDaniel

Our Beloved Mary Lou, 82, passed peacefully at Clermont Park Senior Living, with her husband of 61 years, at her side. Mary Lou was born in Chanute, KS, and eventually ended up in Nowata, OK where she graduated from high school. In 1960 she moved to Denver, CO where she met the love of her life, Denny. Their first date was a blind date. The first time he saw her standing at the top of the stairs, asked her right then if she would marry him. They married in 1961, and raised 3 children, Chuck, Sean & Ann. When asked what she wanted to do with her life, she always said all she ever wanted was to be a wife and a mother. And to her great joy, she raised an amazing family and was the guiding light for her children and husband. For those who knew her, she was the embodiment of love, beauty, dignity, and grace, touching the hearts of all she met.

Gramma was consumed with her family, never missing an event, athletics, school plays or anything her children were involved in, she was always there. A consummate cook, she was renowned for her Sunday afternoon pot roast and vegetables, spaghetti, sausage & lentil soup , and so much more! Her family was well fed. She also had a passion for flowers and made any place she lived a garden wonderland. She also was an avid quilter. She loved to display the quilts in her home, adding to the loving environment she created.

She instilled a family-centered culture in her children and continued with her grandchildren. Whether it was spending time at the lake or watching the Bronco’s game, family was always around!

A Christian woman, raised as a Southern Baptist, she was a shining light. She sang in the choir, and was the church secretary. She had strict expectations of those in her house! Father Mark became one of the priests at Holy Trinity Church, and was soon to became her favorite “preacher”.

She was healed for eternity this morning after battling Parkinson’s for 17 years.
