

Matthew Tamez Garcia, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on October 9, 2022. He was 30 years old. Matthew was born on March 9, 1992 to Manuel & Nina (Torres) Garcia. While he was born in Garden City, Kansas, Matthew grew up in Colorado.
Matthew attended East Memorial Elementary, as well as Brentwood Middle School. Matthew attended Skyview High School, Garden City High School and graduated in 2011 from Pathway High School in Thornton, Colorado. After graduating high school, Matthew continued his education at Everest College graduating in 2015 with a Medical Assistant diploma.
Anyone who knew Matthew, describes him as a selfless, generous and caring person. He was always stepping up to help anyone in need and would give the shirt off his back. He made an impact on everyone he met. His outgoing personality kept everyone smiling and laughing. His bubbly personality was contagious. Even though he loved to tease his family, he never crossed the line. Despite being a blunt and stern individual, he truly respected others and their feelings. Matthew was a humble person and cared for others and always put everyone before himself.
Matthew’s Christian faith was very important to him even as a youngster when he accepted Christ into his heart. As he grew older it became even more important to him. He would read his bible and daily devotional and was baptized on July 4, 2021.
Matthew enjoyed a multitude of hobbies and sports. He loved to fish and would spend hours with his step-father trying to catch the big one! He enjoyed playing video games with his brothers, especially Call of Duty. His love for Chicago sports teams was known by everyone. The Chicago Bulls was his ultimate favorite. A few of Matthew’s role models included Alan Iverson, Kobe Bryant and, of course, Michael Jordan.
Matthew not only enjoyed sports as a spectator, he enjoyed participating, too. He was quite the athlete himself. He swam, played softball and basketball. He played on the Colorado Hornets Basketball team, Greeley Diamondbacks and the Orangeman of Greeley. He was very active with The Boys and Girls Club of Greeley.
Matthew was a family man. Parents, siblings, nieces or nephews; family was family and he loved and enjoyed being around all of them.
Matthew is survived by his wife, Jennifer Luceli Padilla; parents, Manuel Garcia, Nina (Faybien) Rosales; siblings, Manny (Krissie Lucero) Garcia, Marcel Garcia, Mercedez (Justin Duran) Garcia, Marcus (Autumn Rose) Garcia, Mariah (Edward Lopez) Garcia, Tommy Pacheco, Elissa Pacheco, Jordyn Garcia; nephews, Armani Garcia, Kashius Garcia, Neomiah Garcia, Gianas Garcia; niece, Aria Duran; grandparents, Margarita Tamez, Janie Dominguez, Manuel Garcia, Veronica Garcia and Gilbert Lucero.
Public visitation will be 1pm until 6pm, Friday, October 21 at Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant St. in Thornton. There will also be a visitation from 11am until 1pm on Saturday, October 22 with a Celebration of Matthew’s Life following at 1pm, also at Olinger Highland Mortuary. Interment will take place at Olinger Highland Cemetery. At the conclusion of all services, there will be a reception gathering starting at 5:30pm at The Boys and Girls Club of Weld County, 2400 First Avenue, in Greeley, Colorado.
Matthew loved life and everything that came with it; his faith, his family and friends, his sports and activities. He will truly be missed and everyone he knew and came into contact with is better for having known him.
