Merlyn Richard Boss

He often said that joining the Navy was the best decision he ever made. Stationed in Hawaii, he served as an Aviation Structural Mechanic. After completing his military service, he attended Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, under the GI Bill and earned two bachelor’s degrees, majoring in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

Following college, he began the next chapter of his life with Mary Alice.

He married Mary Alice (Drake) in 1956, and she preceded him in death. Together they had three children: Stephen (Marlene), Kathleen (Tom), and Kelvin. His family grew to include three grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Merlyn worked as a physicist for Rockwell International until his retirement. He and Mary Alice then traveled around the world. When their travels ended, he devoted much of his time to reading, especially biographies, history and any book with a great plot.

He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
