It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael, whose sudden passing was the result of a recent heart condition. Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness and steady presence touched the lives of many.
Michael was born on February 13, 1946, in Cumberland, MD and was raised in Hagerstown, MD. In February 1963, he proudly joined the United States Air Force and was assigned to the Strategic Air Command Division at Malmstrom Air Force Base. Later that same year, he met the love of his life, Diana. The two were married in July 1965, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span 60 years.
During his military service, Michael spent 15 months stationed in Goose Bay before receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force in February 1967.
After his service, Michael and Diana moved to Colorado, where they built a loving home and life together. In 1969, they purchased their first home in Westminster and raised their two sons, Michael Jr. (“Mickey”) and Christopher Douglas (“Doug”). Over the years, Michael and Diana created many cherished memories in the homes they shared together, eventually settling in Thornton in 2005, where they continued to reside together.
Michael found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, model electric trains, listening to music, gardening, and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, and caring spirit.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Diana; his son, Michael Jr. (“Mickey”); his sister, Deanne; his brother, Bill (“Bo”); his grandchildren, Michael III, Haley, Mariah, and Beau; and his great-grandchildren, Wrenley and Rowan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl; his sisters, Josephine (“Jo”) and Kittie; and his beloved son, Christopher Douglas (“Doug”).
Michael’s love for his family, his dedication to helping others, and the memories he created with those around him will forever be cherished. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
