

Muriel “Mert” Delaine (Neff) Benjamin born January 7, 1937 in Wichita Kansas of Thornton, Colorado passed away November 26, 2024 in Broomfield, Colorado. Muriel Graduated from West High School in Wichita Kansas and was active in the band. She married Richard Benjamin on September 11, 1955. Muriel is preceded in death by Richard “Dick” Benjamin (Husband), Bradley Benjamin (son). Mert is survived by her son Greg (Lynn), granddaughters Hanna Benjamin, Amelia Benjamin (James Talbot) and great granddaughter Ava Delaine Talbot in addition to loving and caring extended family and friends.
Mert and her late husband Dick fell in love with Colorado and all it offered including their passion to camp and fish eventually moving here. In their earlier years, they enjoyed taking their family to Yellowstone National Park. Later they spent time at Lake Havasu in Arizona as well as Salida Colorado where they made many friends. Mert loved to travel and made numerous trips throughout the United States and abroad.
Mert worked as an administrative assistant at Sundstrand, Mapleton Public School District, Hughes Air West, Republic Airlines, Frontier airlines and Stanley Aviation. Mert enjoyed the most being with family, friends and adored pets.
She was an avid follower of the University of Colorado Buffaloes, Denver Broncos, Avalanche, Nuggets and Rockies teams. She also, enjoyed attending sporting events, church, theater/plays/operas and loved to shop. She looked forward in her spare time playing the piano, canasta, mahjongg and other card games with her friends. She was active in the Newcomers Group in Westminster, Senior Center and the Red Hat Club organizations. As you can see, the grass didn’t grow under her feet, and she was always on the move.
Celebration of Life Services will be held January 14, 2025 at 11.00AM and a reception/luncheon will follow at Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229.
