Nadine, a proud member of the Greatest Generation, was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Sterling, Colo., to Robert W. Miller and Agnes Ahern Miller. She spent several years of her youth in Fort Collins, Colo., before settling in the Denver area. She worked as a secretary for the Adams County District Attorney’s office, U.S. Postal Service, and at Hazen Research in Golden before retiring at her home in Northglenn.
Nadine was married to Jack Doyle, a U.S. Army veteran who worked for the U.S. Postal Service.
Although she had no children of her own, Nadine was a beloved “surrogate” mother, aunt and grandmother to many. She was highly intelligent, well-read and well-spoken, and never failed to sing the praises of her beloved Republican Party, for which she volunteered for many years.
Nadine was an avid supporter of the Arts. From Broadway musicals at the Buell – for which she had season tickets for more than two decades – to volunteering at the Musuem of Natural History (her favorite exhibit being the prestigious Mayan display), to the symphony, good movies, art shows, and just about anything that sang, danced, glowed and sparkled.
More than anything, Nadine loved dogs. She owned several dogs over the years and went out of her way to steal a kiss from any pooch in her immediate vicinity. She drew great joy in her final years from Mia, the dog next door who enjoyed many days and weekends being spoiled by Nadine.
Nadine was a strong Irish woman who lived on her own in the same house for more than 40 years after being widowed. She was Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and by brothers Dick and Robert.
Nadine is survived by many who thought of her as family, cousins, friends and neighbors who loved her dearly and will miss her presence in their lives – especially her laugh, her generosity, her loyalty, and seeing her “dressed to the nines” in her beautiful clothes and shoes.
A celebration of Nadine’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Olinger Highland Mortuary in Thornton. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. with a rosary following at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at 1 p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge.
Nadine had many favorite causes, showering them with her support. In her honor, memorial gifts can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or International Hearing Dog, Inc., 5901 E. 89th Ave., Henderson, CO 80640.
