Noralene Rose Wells was born April 6, 1934 in Hays, Kansas, to a mother and father named Mary Younger and John Weigel. She was the second to youngest of 17 other children, including Evelynn Faulkinstein, who is the last living sibling and just celebrated her 100th birthday. The mother, Mary Younger, lived to be 101. Talk about some champs!
Noralene was born on a farm, which she helped tend to while she was growing up. She met her husband, Ronald Thomas Wells later on and stole his attention by bringing another date to Lakeside theme park. If that doesn’t sound like grandma, I don’t know what does. It wasn’t long after, and they were married and had 4 girls, Debra, Claudette, Kerry and Sandy. Ronald was a marine and spent many nights on the road to provide for his family. Ronald has been gone for almost 30 years now. But because champs have obviously been born from this bloodline, Noralene raised 4 girls and was faithfully there for all grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She was very active at her church, Spirit of Christ. Throughout her life, she remained consistent with her religion and love for God. Her favorite Bible verse was the lord’s prayer, which always remained framed and hung close to her bed. Noralene also carried a rosary at her side that she frequently prayed with. One of these prayers was during a ride down a swirling mountain from Arizona to Colorado. She was to be present for the birth of one of her great grandchildren at the time, Myla Rae.
Noralene will forever be remembered for her desire to provide amazing meals, desserts, endless gifts and love, especially for her great grand babies, not to mention her remarkable sense of humor and personality. We love you. You rest easy, baby.
