Ophelia Kathrine Loose left this world peacefully on August 17, 2026, just weeks before her 96th birthday. Born on August 31, 1930, in Ellis, Kansas, to Walter and Elsie Huber, she was one of five children and lived a life filled with love, laughter, faith, family, and strength.
Ophelia was a devoted homemaker and mother to her two children, Alan Boyce and Marlena Boyce. She gave herself fully to her family and took pride in creating a loving home for those she cared for.
Family was always at the center of Ophelia’s world. She was a loving grandmother to Robert and Thomas Boyce and a proud great-grandmother to Corbin and Brooke. She treasured holidays, family gatherings, and simply having the people she loved around her. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a strong spirit, and a special way of making people feel cared for. And if you were lucky enough to eat at her table, you never left without leftovers.
She is survived by her daughter, Marlena Boyce; grandson, Robert Boyce; great-grandchildren, Corbin and Brooke Boyce; daughter-in-law, Georgie Boyce; granddaughter-in-law, Lori Lombardi; nephew, Robert Benway; and niece, Kristen Cone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elsie Huber; brothers Gardner, Gary, and Eddie Huber; sister Norma Benway; her first husband, Robert Boyce; her son, Alan Boyce; her grandson, Thomas Boyce; and the love of her life, Franklin Loose.
Ophelia was the heart of our family. Her love will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the traditions she left behind. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always carried in our hearts.
“And then when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and say, ‘Welcome home.’”
And I’ll cook!
A Committal Service will be held at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229, US, on August 27, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
