Phillip Ray Brockel

Phillip Brockel died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at St. Anthony North Hospital in Westminster, Colorado. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011, 11:00 am at Spirit of Christ Catholic Chapel, 7400 W. 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado.

Phillip was born September 13, 1921 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Gottlieb and Katherina (Hetterle). He met his wife, Bertha, when his and her families worked adjoining farms. Phillip and Bertha were married on November 10, 1946 in Torrington, Wyoming. They lived in Torrington , Wyoming until 1949, when they moved to Colorado.

Phillip liked to garden and tend his and his neighbor's yards. He loved conversing with people and never knew a stranger. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha, of 64 years; two daughters, Janet (Gary) Harras of Westminster; Beverly (Galen) Fogle of Westminster; three grandchildren, Jody (Kurt) Karrasch of Brighton; Jennifer (Matt) Jones of Brighton, Todd Fogle of Denver, and Traci (Andy) Luster of Denver, and a great granddaughter, Gretchen Karrasch.

Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters.

His love for his family and friends will be deeply missed.
