

Rafael Cervantes was born on January 29, 1936, in Pénjamo, Guanajuato, to Antonia Alaniz and José Cervantes. He grew up in a humble and loving home alongside his three sisters - María Cervantes, Carlota Cervantes, and Felipa Cervantes - and his brother, Refugio Cervantes. Rafael experienced the loss of his parents at a young age, a hardship that shaped his strength, resilience, and deep appreciation for family.
Throughout his life, Rafael remained close to his siblings. Over the years, they each passed on before him, and he became the last surviving sibling, carrying with him their shared memories and the love of their family roots.
At the age of 21, Rafael married the love of his life, María de la Luz Villalobos. Their union was built on faith, love, and respect. Rafael was deeply devoted to his wife and remained faithfully by her side until her passing in 2019. Together, they raised a beautiful family of ten children, nine of whom survive him.
Rafael and María’s love story continued to grow through generations: they were blessed with 40 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Family was always at the center of Rafael’s life - it was his greatest joy, pride, and purpose.
Known as a hardworking, compassionate, kind, and caring man, Rafael dedicated his life to providing for and guiding his loved ones. His strength and gentle heart touched everyone who knew him.
Rafael Cervantes’ legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and the many lives he impacted with his love. He will be remembered not only as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but also as the heart of his family - a man whose love will forever echo through generations.
Rafael Cervantes nació el 29 de enero de 1936 en Pénjamo, Guanajuato, hijo de Antonia Alaniz y José Cervantes. Creció en un hogar sencillo y lleno de amor, junto a sus tres hermanas - María Cervantes, Carlota Cervantes y Felipa Cervantes- y su hermano Refugio Cervantes. Desde muy joven enfrentó la pérdida de sus padres, una experiencia difícil que forjó su carácter fuerte, su espíritu resiliente y su profundo amor por la familia.
A lo largo de su vida, Rafael mantuvo un lazo muy cercano con sus hermanos. Con el tiempo, todos ellos fallecieron antes que él, convirtiéndolo en el último de sus hermanos con vida. Siempre llevó en su corazón los recuerdos compartidos y el cariño que los unía como familia.
A la edad de 21 años, Rafael se casó con el amor de su vida, María de la Luz Villalobos. Su matrimonio fue un ejemplo de amor, fe y respeto. Rafael fue un esposo fiel y entregado, permaneciendo a su lado hasta su partida en 2019. Juntos formaron una hermosa familia con diez hijos, de los cuales nueve viven.
El amor de Rafael y María trascendió generaciones: fueron bendecidos con 40 nietos, 60 bisnietos y un tataranieto. La familia fue siempre el centro de su vida -su mayor orgullo, alegría y razón de ser.
Rafael fue un hombre trabajador, compasivo, bondadoso y de gran corazón. Dedicó su vida a su familia, brindándoles amor, apoyo y ejemplo. Su fortaleza y nobleza dejaron huella en todos los que tuvieron la dicha de conocerlo.
El legado de Rafael Cervantes vivirá por siempre en el corazón de sus hijos, nietos y todas las generaciones que siguieron sus pasos. Será recordado no solo como un esposo, padre, abuelo y bisabuelo ejemplar, sino como el pilar y corazón de su familia -un hombre cuya huella de amor permanecerá para siempre.
Visitation will be held at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, located at 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO, 80229, on October 20, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A second visitation will take place at Our Lady Mother of the Church, located at 6690 E 72nd Ave, Commerce City, CO, 80022, on October 21, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the same location.
The graveside service will be held at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery on October 21, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
