Raymond David Torres, born December 19, 1950, in Sutherland, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, in Thornton, Colorado, surrounded by his loving family. He was 74 years old. Ray spent over 30 years in his career driving semi-trucks across the country. He took great pride in being an owner and operator and was known for his strong work ethic. The open road was his second home, and he enjoyed making memories and adventures on the road with family that went along for the ride. Ray had an unusual sense of humor that could make anyone smile. He loved spending time with his family especially watching Broncos games or sharing a big slice of watermelon on a warm day. Those simple moments brought him true happiness.
He is survived by his ex-spouse, Angelina Torres; his daughter, Kristy Torres; his son, Robert Lucero; his brother, John Torres; and his sister, Rosemary Cordova. Ray was a proud grandpa to Angelica Garcia Gonzalez (Rene Gonzalez), Aracelli Garcia, Emilio Garcia, Domonique Cooke (Diego Arellano), Shea Lucero, Luke Lucero, and Tony (Amber) Fisher, along with many great-grandchildren. Being a grandpa brought him the most joy and laughter. Ray was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Nikki Torres; his brother, Pat Torres; his father, Joseph D. Torres; and his mother, Andrea (Alvarado) Torres. Ray will be remembered most for his steady strength, sense of humor, and hardworking nature. He found joy in simple things, family meals, good stories, and time spent together. He took great pride in being a dad and grandpa, and the love he gave will live on through the memories he created. A celebration of life will be shared with family and friends at a later time. The family would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and kind words during this difficult time.
Forever in our hearts, always on the road ahead.
