Richard “Dick” Bissell was born on February 11, 1936 in Cumberland, Iowa, the oldest son of Royce and Mildred (Holaday) Bissell. He passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2026 in Northglenn, Colorado.
Dick grew up in Anita, Iowa and it was there that he met the love of his life, Eleanor (Beaman). Dick and Eleanor began dating in 1952 and married on June 19, 1954. They lived in Anita where they welcomed four daughters. Dick worked for Rasmussen Hatchery until the family moved to Commerce City, Colorado in 1965. He worked at Ralston Purina for 22 years, followed by various jobs before ending his career working for South Adams County Water & Sanitation from 1993 to 2001.
Dick always had a passion for music and tending to his flowers and garden. Lately he enjoyed organizing the hundreds of pictures collected on his computer, playing solitaire and winning at bingo. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his brothers Dave, Byron, Lynn, Norman and Bruce, and his daughter, Karen. He is survived by his wife, his daughters Sandra (Bob) Gimer, Linda (Jack) Hartt and Cathy (Dennis) Harlow, grandchildren Shannon (Darin) Jantzi, Heather Ebuna, Kevin (Allison) Bower, Bryan Ebuna and Stephanie (Olaf) Moonen, five great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 1026 at 11:00 a.m. at Olinger Funeral and Cemetery- Highland located at 10201 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado 80229.
