Born in the Great Depression in the Dust Bowl State of North Dakota, Robert moved west with his family to Washington State in the 1940's. His profound love of knowledge and design was nurtured here.
After a stint with the Signal Corps, he returned to University in Seattle where he soon joined a group of progressive artists and designers.
He piled into an old VW with a group of friends to attend the International Design Conference in Aspen in the 1970's. Aside from a quick trip back to Seattle to collect his things and say goodbyes, he never left.
Robert was renowned for his wisdom, wit and generous good nature. His legions of friends spanned all ages, races and social strata. He was the designer and draftsman of choice for many. His careful planning and layouts of everything from sandwich shops to rafting gear will be appreciated for generations.
