

Rodney “Rod” Snydal passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on February 9, 1939, in Denver, Colorado, to Howard and Elizabeth Snydal. Rod married the love of his life, Lorrie, on June 20, 1964. They shared 61 wonderful years together, though to Rod, it never felt like enough. After Lorrie passed, he missed her deeply and longed to be with her again.
Rod graduated from Brighton High School in 1959 and went on to attend Western State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Education degree. He taught briefly in Vermont, where he met Lorrie. The two married and later returned to Colorado. After they moved back to Colorado, Rod’s father asked him to take over W.M. Hopkins Lumber Company. Rod and Lorrie worked side by side in the business for over 25 years. Rod called Eastlake home for 28 years, where he and Lorrie raised three daughters in a loving and wonderful home. Rod and Lorrie also called Florissant, Monument and Thornton home.
Rod and Lorrie loved to travel with many trips to Vermont, New Hampshire, seeing friends in South Carolina. They visited Utah, Nashville and many other states. They took a wonderful cruise around the Hawaiian Islands and a trip through Panama with their daughter and son-in-law.
Rod had many hobbies. He is best known for his amazing woodworking skills. He made so many wonderful projects and instilled love on many of his grandchildren. He was passionate about cycling. Rod did the Ride the Rockies at least four times, we lost count. He also did many other bike tours in Colorado. Rod loved to walk and when he had a yard to work in that is where you would find him. Rod was a volunteer fireman for the Eastlake Fire Department for many years. He and Lorrie put their talents to work at Habitat for Humanity.
Rod is survived by his three daughters Cindy Frankmore, Sharon Nicholas, Melanie (James) Larson. Grandchildren Kyle (Jessica) Larson, Kevin (Raylene) Larson, Kalina Larson, Kolten Larson, Nathan Nicholas, Chasyn Nicholas, Kainen Nicholas, Dominic Frankmore, Isa Figueroa, and Cassidy Ondrejka. Great grandchildren, James Larson, Brayden Larson, Rylee Larson, Elizabeth Larson and Kiowa Frankmore.
Rod is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Elizabeth Snydal, brother Larry Snydal and wife Lorraine Snydal.
Services will be July 17th at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church 11385 Grant Dr, Northglenn, CO 80233. The rosary will be at 10:30 am, funeral mass at 11:00 am and reception at 12:00 pm. The burial will follow at 2:30 at Olinger Highland Cemetery, 10201 Grant St. Thornton, CO 80229.
