Ron was born on August 23, 1942 in Denver, Colorado, to Margaret and Sam Keiser. He attended East High School before earning both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Colorado State University.
Ron lived a life filled with music, trains, craftsmanship and creativity. He was an exceptionally talented trumpet player whose music career brought him many accomplishments and countless stories. Throughout his life, he performed with Wayne Cochran and the CC Riders, the Denver Bronco Band, Your Father’s Mustache Band, the Johnny Carson Show, house bands in Las Vegas including Wayne Newton, and even the mariachi band at Casa Bonita.
He shared his love of music with generations of students as a music teacher for Denver Public Schools, where he taught middle and elementary school music for much of his career. His dedication, talent, and passion left a lasting impression on the many students whose lives he touched.
During his summers away from teaching, Ron pursued another great love: trains. He worked for many years as a train conductor on both the Georgetown Loop Railroad and the Durango & Silverton Railroad. His passion for railroads extended far beyond the tracks. Ron was involved in many model train groups over the years and created an extraordinary train layout in the basement of his Arvada townhome. His layout won numerous awards and was admired by many for its detail, artistry, and craftsmanship. He was especially known for his intricate scenery work, including handmade trees, detailed decal work on train cars, and his artistic eye that made each of his layouts truly one of a kind.
Ron will be remembered for his talent, creativity, attention to detail, and the joy he brought to others through music, teaching, trains, art and his quick sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Ann Keiser; his son, Jeffrey Ronald Keiser; his daughter-in-law, Blair O’Neal Keiser; and his two beloved grandsons, Canon Green Keiser and Chrome Andy Keiser. He is also survived by his sister, Jo Brookover; his nephew, Brian Vick, his niece, Stacy Hough; as well as his four great-nephews, Wyatt Hough, Marshall Hough, Nathan Vick, and Max Vick.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Christine and Mayra at Olinger for their kindness and care in helping Ron be laid to rest.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 20, 2026. Location and time will be determined.
