Rose T. Medina of Denver, passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 29. She died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loving family and beloved care-giver, Tina. Rose had a long and happy life, despite the Alzheimer’s disease that robbed her memory, but not her zeal for life or her sense of humor. She never forgot the names of her three boys and her three girls and she repeated them daily. “I had six kids, Bobby, Johnny, Gilbert, Grace, Christine, Violet.” She attended Catholic mass every Sunday and never forgot her prayers either. She insisted on praying the rosary every day….several times.
Born on December 26, 1924, she almost made it to her 90th birthday. She was widowed when her husband Lazaro Medina died in 1989. She raised his two sons Alfred and Frederick (both deceased) as her own. She also had an infant son, Robert Lee, who predeceased her. Survivors include children: Robert Medina (Helen), John Medina, Grace Armstrong (John), Christine Breen (Tim), Gilbert Medina (Linda), and Violet Joseph (Seymour), 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren. The oldest of seven children all born in New Mexico, Rose is survived by her brothers Joe and Julian Martinez and her sisters Margaret Alarid and Olivia Bernal. She also had a brother, Jesse Martinez and a sister Helen Duran who predeceased her.
