Roy Henry Morgan was born on February 26, 1938 in Denver, Colorado to Reverend Benjamin and Leola Morgan. He was the seventh son of a family of eight sons and one daughter. He attended Whittier grade school, Cole Junior High School and Manual High School. After graduating high school he went on to college at the Denver University.
After graduation he became a school teacher for the Denver Public Schools. He was a teacher for more than 30 years. He taught at Baker Junior High School, Horace Mann Junior High School and Merrill Junior High School.
Roy became a Christian at a very early age and was at first a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. When his father Reverend Morgan started Antioch Baptist Church in his home in the late 1940's, Roy became a faithful worker helping his Dad in many ways. When the Church incorporated, Roy was one of the charter members. Among his many Church activities he was a Sunday school teacher, the Church treasurer, a member of the Board of Directors and a member of the choir.
Roy was always a person that was ready and willing to help others in any way that he could. Even though he had no wife or children of his own, he became a surrogate father, brother and friend to many others. Whether it was a relative, friend or someone he had just met, Roy was willing to help in any way that he could. But Roy himself never wanted to be a burden or cause any problems to anyone else.
Roy spent several of his adult years and much of his time helping to care for his invalid sister and one of his brothers who both preceded him in death. He very faithfully cared for them on a daily basis. After his sister went to a nursing home he daily visited her and fed her regardless of the weather or other situations.
After their passing, he was able to spend some time in his last few days to travel and spend some time doing things that he could enjoy.
Roy Henry Morgan passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2011. He leaves to cherish his memory, three brothers, John Morgan of St. Louis, MO; Donald Morgan of San Francisco, CA; Harvey Morgan of Aurora, CO; a host of nephews, nieces and many other relatives who loved him very much.
Roy will be greatly missed because there are very few people who will ever pass this way that will be like him.
