Ruben Duran: December 25, 1934 - November 28, 2023. It is with broken hearts we share the news of our father's passing. Ruben was born in Wattenberg CO. Preceded in death by his parents Joseph Duran, Altagracia Duran, sisters Miki Hernandez, Josie Serna, and brothers Joe Duran and Benito Duran.
Ruben is survived by his wife of 68 years Mary Rose Duran, four children Kathy Laro (Robert), Michelle
Mascarenas (Anthony), Dino and Danny Duran. Sisters Mary Lopez, Eleanor Carrillo, Patricia Solorio,
and brother Dave Duran. Grandsons, Matthew, Vincent, Lucas Mascarenas, Trevor and Benjamin
Laro. Great grandchildren 6, and 2 step grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.
He worked many years for Armor Star Meat packing company, Nabisco, Coors and Purina. He enjoyed Mile High Dog racing and gambling in Central City and Las Vegas. Winning enough to purchase a travel trailer for the family of 6 to travel to California, Carlsbad Caverns, Mesa Verde, Yellowstone and many other fun family vacations and camping trips.
He could fix anything around the house and built his 2 car garage, added to the kitchen and finished the basement, giving us a comfortable house to live in and a yard to play in. He loved taking care of and being around his grandchildren. Lucas would tell everyone that he was Batman and Grandpa was Alfred. He was a good Grandpa.
He was a proud member of the Holy Name Society at Our Lady Mother of the Church in Commerce City.
He also cleaned the church hall after Friday night Bingo games and after weddings and parties at the
hall on weekends.
We will miss him, but take comfort in the fact he is no longer hurting from arthritis and in the arms of our Loving Lord and Father.
