Born on January 10, 1947, in Denver to Jesus and Bernice Martinez, Ruby grew up in a close-knit family and graduated from Manuel High School. She went on to have a long and dedicated career with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF), retiring after many years of service.
Ruby was known for her adventurous spirit, fearless attitude, and hands-on nature, never hesitating to take on a repair project or try something new. She had a love for gardening and found joy in nurturing both her plants and her family. Above all, Ruby was proud of her family and cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild.
She is survived by her son, Michael Martinez (Valerie); granddaughter Tanya Martinez; great-grandchildren Malachi Cruz (Alyssa), Noah Cruz, and Israel Cruz; and great-great-grandchild Ezekiel Cruz. She is also survived by her brother, Conrad Cordova.
Ruby was preceded in death by her siblings Arthur Martinez and Rudy Martinez.
Her legacy of strength, courage, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, located at 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO, 80229, United States, on October 22, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A graveside service will follow at the same location from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
Pallbearers will include Malachi Cruz, Noah Cruz, Israel Cruz, Tim Cruz, Gary Sandoval, and David Leyba. Ezekiel Cruz will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
