Ray was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, great-grandfather, and loyal friend. He passed away surrounded by the love of the family he treasured, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, laughter, strength, and unwavering devotion.
Ray was born on May 5, 1946, in Derry, New Mexico, to Rumaldo and Manuela Minjarez. He spent his childhood in La Junta, Colorado, growing up among his many brothers and sisters, where he learned the values of faith, perseverance, respect, and the importance of family. The lessons he learned during those early years would guide him throughout his life.
One of the greatest blessings of his life began with a childhood friendship that blossomed into a lifelong love. On April 1, 1966, Ray married his beloved wife, Isabel, in La Junta. Shortly after their marriage and the birth of their first child Rumaldo III (Sonny) they moved to Denver, Colorado, where they established their home and welcomed their daughter, Michelle. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, commitment, and cherished memories.
Ray dedicated much of his life to his craft as a skilled journeyman carpenter. His work reflected not only his talent and attention to detail but also the pride he took in providing for his family. He was respected by coworkers and friends alike for his craftsmanship, integrity, and strong work ethic. His hands built more than structures; they built a foundation of security and love for generations of his family.
When he wasn't working, Ray could often be found on the golf course, where he found joy, relaxation, and friendly competition. He loved the game and cherished the time spent sharing rounds, stories, and laughter with friends and family. Golf was more than a hobby to him. It reflected his patience, focus, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures and his love of the game.
Ray also had a love for music and dancing. Whether at family gatherings, celebrations, or special occasions, he never missed an opportunity to get out on the dance floor. His enthusiasm was contagious, and his dance moves brought smiles, laughter, and unforgettable memories to those around him.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Ray was a faithful fan of the Denver Broncos. Whether watching from home or celebrating with family, he proudly supported his team through every season. Game days were often filled with excitement, laughter, and memories that his family will forever cherish.
Above all else, Ray was a family man. His family was the center of his world and his greatest source of pride. He loved gathering with those he held dear, sharing stories, offering guidance, and creating moments that would be remembered for years to come. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him endless joy, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with them, especially when it involved cake!
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Rumaldo and Manuela Minjarez; his sisters, Chuey, Leecha, Eva, and Rose; his brother, Nick; his parents-in-law Alice and Leo Sola, and brothers-in-law, Alex and Manuel.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than sixty years, Isabel; his children, Rumaldo "Sonny" (Alicia) and Michelle (Joe);
his beloved grandchildren, Sunnie (Andrew), Allie (Dave), Gabe (Jessica), Estevan (Vanessa), Kristina, Isabel, and Jordan; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Aaden, Madison, Bella, Hailee, AJ, and E'veeana. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will miss him dearly.
Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in the memories he gave us, the lessons he taught us, and the love he shared so freely. His legacy lives on in the family he nurtured, the friendships he cherished, and the countless lives he touched.
Ray's life was one of dedication, laughter, compassion, and love. He built a life as strong as the structures he crafted, and a family bound together by the values he exemplified every day.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever in our hearts.
"Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and forever dear."
