Rupert B. Gonzales

Rupert Gonzales left his earthly body on June 22, 2025, at the age of ninety-one. Rupert was born in Berthoud, Colorado in 1934 to Jose Ruperto “Joe” and Juanita Aguilar Gonzales. He was third in line of seven. Rupert attended school in Berthoud and eventually transferred to Brighton.

On New Year's Eve in 1955, Rupert's love for dancing led him to Nasarita “Betty” Rodriquez. Rupert joined the Army in February 1956 and spent most of his tour in Germany. He was honorably discharged in December 1957. In 1958 he married Betty and had four beautiful children, Rory, Michael, Ben, and Valerie. Rupert and Betty started their own business of purchasing and maintaining rental properties. Rupert also worked for the post office where he retired after thirty years of service.

Rupert was a very hard worker. He took pride in everything he set out to accomplish. He loved going to dances and would dance the night away. His friendships meant the world to him, and he had many. Rupert never met a stranger; he made friends wherever he went. He cherished every minute he had with his four children. Rupert always had dogs, and they were his children when his kids grew up. He enjoyed sharing his memories of his time serving in the Army and was always dressed to impress. We will remember his signature hats.

Rupert was preceded in death by his parents Jose Ruperto “Joe” and Juanita Aguilar Gonzales, brothers William Jose and Peter Gonzales, and sisters Patricia and Mary Gonzales. He is survived by his sisters Marie Cecilia Maez, Elizabeth Leon Harris, and Roxanne Jane Gonzales Eggert; children Rory Gonzales, Michael Gonzales (Tracy), Ben Gonzales (Heather), and Valerie Duran (Christopher); twelve grandchildren Desiree Gonzales, Lyndsey Gonzales, Alecia Gonzales, Erica Gonzales, Dominick Gonzales, Jewelanne Duran, Anthony Gonzales, Joseph Gonzales, Seth Gonzales, Nevaeh Gonzales, Harmony Gonzales, and Christian Duran; three great-grandchildren Harley Gonzales, Hayden Ramos, and Turalyon Alsosa, and many nephews and nieces all of whom loved him deeply.

The memorial service for Rupert will be held on Friday July 11, 2025, at 11:00am at Spirit of Christ Catholic Community, 7400 W. 80th Ave., Arvada, CO 80003. Reception to follow at 12:00pm.

There will be a public visitation (closed casket) on Sunday July 13, 2025, at 2:00 – 4:00pm at Olinger Mortuary, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229.

Committal services will be held on Monday July 14, 2025, at 11:30am at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236.
