Ruth Augustine went to be with her Lord and husband on March 29, 2021 in Broomfield. Ruth was born on April 23, 1926 in Springfield, Illinois to Gus and Louise Kovalik. She was the baby of the family being 8th among 8 children. She had a very loving home. She and Emil belonged to the same church in Springfield, but it wasn’t until their two families took a trip to Colorado that they fell in love. They married in Springfield April 4, 1948. Shortly after, they had two daughters, Jeanne and Judy. After deciding to return to Colorado to live, they also had a son, Chris. Ruth spent her time raising her children, but at the age of 42, she decided to go to college to get her certificate for Preschool Director, a position she held until retirement. As the years went by, they added 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren to the family. During retirement years, they traveled rather extensively throughout the USA and enjoyed themselves immensely. 3 ½ years ago, they moved from their home of over 50 years to live their remaining years at Highland Trail Independent living. We couldn’t have asked for a better place for them to feel safe, secure, and well-cared for. In 2018, they celebrated their 70th anniversary with a party given by Highland Trail. They stayed totally in love with each other and through commitment and foundation in their love for the Lord. Emil passed later that year, and Ruth continued to make friends and have purpose for another 2 ½ years. Her passion was crocheting slippers for anyone who wanted them. One of her favorite verses was Proverbs 3:5 and 6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” Ruth loved everyone, but she loved her Jesus most! Now, she is with Him, her beloved husband, and her birth family.
Memorial service will be April 17, 2021 at 10:00am at Family in Christ Community Church at 11355 N. Sheridan Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Ruth may be made to Our Daily Bread online, or Halcyon Hospice, Mead Co.
