Sally Rae Corbett, 88, passed away on December 13, 2025, after a long and fulfilling life. She was born to Alice and Bill Lawrence in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1937. She graduated from Aurora Central High School in 1955 and married the love of her life, Stuart Corbett, in 1958.
Stuart and Sally embarked on a life filled with commitment, love, and laughter. A true homemaker and stay at home mom, Sally instilled in her two daughters, Shawn and Stacy, the family-focused and self-reliant traits that she also possessed.
Throughout her life, Sally was known for her independent spirit, kindness to others, and love of family. Once the girls were out on their own, she was able to focus on her own interests. She landed a sweet part-time job in the 1970’s that she really enjoyed. A local oil company in Denver hired her to “color” geological land maps. This was before computers, so by using colored pencils she produced one-of-a-kind creations that were truly beautiful and got paid for doing it!
Sally was the family historian and was able to share stories and memories with everyone. She had a thoughtful and caring manner, helping friends and neighbors in need. Always expressing gratitude and fostering a loving environment. She was a voracious reader and was especially fond of western historical fiction.
Sally used her sewing and crafting skills to create many one-of-a-kind creations that her family treasures. Over the years many games were bowled, rounds of golf played, many games of double deck pinochle played, crossword puzzles solved, jig saw puzzles completed, all with the community of family and friends.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband Stuart in 2012. She is survived by her two daughters, Shawn Coleman (Don) and Stacy Corbett (Justo Hernandez), four grandsons, Chad Coleman (Katie), Brian Coleman (Emily), Jason Hernandez and Marc Hernandez, along with six great-grandchildren, Claire, Nora, Connor, Navy, Cora, and Rylee.
