Selene Dolores Cortez

Selene Cortez, 50, born October 22, 1975, passed away on May 15, 2026. Born in Tepic and raised in California, Selene carried the spirit of the coast with her. Later settling in Colorado, she devoted herself to creating a warm and loving home filled with music, laughter and unforgettable memories for her daughters.

Selene had a song and recipe for everyone she met. Whether through a home-cooked meal or heartfelt conversation, she brought comfort and joy to those around her.

In later years, Selene found great happiness with her beloved husband and adventure partner, Mike. Together they spent their time traveling, building lasting friendships and embracing life to the fullest. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman who had a rare gift for turning coworkers into family. Her Fillmore family remained a meaningful and cherished part of her life during her final years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jesus; her grandparents, Belen and Cayetano; and her brother, Alonzo.

Selene is lovingly survived by her daughters, Dahlia and Keila; her husband, Mike; her mother, Dolores; her granddaughters, Sofi and Rubi; and her beloved dog, Milo.
