OBITUARY
Shirlene Esther Brown
September 2, 1938 – January 11, 2021
Shirlene Esther Brown, daughter of the late Raymond Cooper and Helen Chapman Cooper, was born on September 2 1938 in Winnebago Nebraska. She was the second oldest of four children – Robert, Patricia and Sandra. Shirlene was raised in Hastings Nebraska where she attended public schools and graduated from Hastings High School. Soon thereafter, she met the love of her life, Donald Brown, and they exchanged wedding vows on September 28 1956. Their family life eventually took them to the Denver metro area for exciting opportunities, where they raised three daughters Charise, Kimberly and D’Nette.
Faith, family and friends were everything to Shirlene. As a founding member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, she was a devout Catholic showing her love for God and church by singing in the Church Choir, attending Mass at every opportunity and ensuring her family did the same. She was a dedicated career employee, giving many years of service to various national banks in the Denver area concentrating in the Human Resources’ departments.
Her personal life showed a competitive spirit, which was showcased in numerous forms – bingo, card games, bunco, bowling and also enjoyed reading, crafts, TOPS and travel. She was well known for cooking and baking but most notably, her renowned tradition of baking Christmas cookies to share with family and friends during the Holiday. The only person we knew that had a “cookie room”. Elvis was her second love and time was spent collecting all things Elvis but certainly not to be out done by her collection of beautiful ceramic angels with the intentions of making sure every family member would have their own after she left this world.
Hosting huge family and friend celebrations and parties was accomplished with ease, never missing an opportunity to socialize. She spent many hours attending sporting events and school functions in support of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Your name and all events crowded her calendar so to never forget a special occasion.
Shirlene was a gentle soul and soft spoken. Her heart was filled with love and kindness for all. We love her with all our heart and will miss her greatly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her siblings Bob, Pat and Sandi and grandson Bryce.

Don and Shirlene were a big part of our life, when we needed family the most. We saw all three girls come into our lives and watched them grow. When I married in 73, I moved to Colorado Springs and didn't see them as often. Don and Shirlene were God Parents to my first born son, James. My mom (Pearl) and myself always enjoyed Holidays and time spent with them all. God Bless to them both and they will never be forgotten. Shirlene will be baking up a storm in heaven for all to enjoy, because that's who she is.
With Love.

Lots of memories with this beautiful friend.
We traveled together and belonged to a lot of clubs that Shirlene brought me into.
Her and Don bowled with us for 14 years and we had so much fun.
Don and Shirlene were our son Brian's God parents.
It was so much fun watchingTheir beautiful daughters grow into beautiful women.
We are going to miss Don and Shirlene. 56 years of friendship. It was our pleasure knowing them and someday we'll meet again.
Rest in peace! and Gods blessings to the family.
Love Always Ron and Donna Ertle

Aunt Shirlene was such a GREAT Aunt! She would do anything for any of us. I remember our COMB trip! What a great time! We all had such fun and we were all together!
One time she was walking with my Mom and I was behind them and for some reason I ran up behind them and started barking! I thought she was going to climb clear up my Mom! I didn't know that it hadn't been so long that she was bitten by a dog. But we all laughed!
I love and will miss her very much!
