

Shirley Ann Flickner passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 7:25 pm surrounded by her loving family & friends at the Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, CO. She was 75 years old and had been suffering the effects of uncontrolled diabetes and died of kidney failure.
Funeral Services will be held this Saturday, May 5, 2012,11:00am at Amazing Grace Community Church, 541 E. 99th Pl., Thornton, CO. 80229. Shirley was a founding member of this church, which held its first service 4 years ago the first Sunday in May, 2008.
Shirley was born on Oct. 9, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland to Raymond Emmit Copenhaver & Bertha Anna Margaret Horn. Her father died when she was only 4 years old. Bertha remarried in 1950 to Malcom MacLeod, (he adopted her). She loved to sew and made most of her own clothes as a teen and young adult. She graduated from St. Alban's High School in West Virginia in 1954, then worked as a Data Entry Keypunch Operator in Charleston, West Virginia for a gas company and attended a Trade School for a secretarial certification.
She started working for Martin Marietta in Orlando, FL as a Data Entry Keypunch Operator in 1957 & did IBM Data Processing. She married Dean Maurice Heal in August 1958 in Orlando, FL. Their only child, Rebecca Ann Heal was born in August 1959 in MO. Dean & Shirley separated in 1961 and were later divorced. Shirley married Kenneth Jackie Flickner in 1965, and later divorced.
Throughout the years Shirley worked as a Data Entry Operator for various gas companies, McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, Walter Drake Company in Colorado Springs, CO, the Rocky Mountain News & the Federal Center of Denver and got hired back at Martin Marietta in 1977, where she worked for 17 years in the Aerospace Division with a top secret clearance on the Prospector Program. She also worked as an administrative assistant for 7 years at Ball Aerospace in Boulder, CO, and retired from Ball Aerospace in 2002.
Shirley is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Emmit Copenhaver, and her mother, Bertha Anna Margaret MacLeod.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Ann Heal Musgrove and her husband, Mark Eric Musgrove, of Northglenn, CO; 3 granddaughters, Sarah Ann and her husband, Robert Ryan Macaluso of Fort Collins, CO, Heather Revae and her fiancée Larry Russell (Rusty) Sharp of Northglenn, CO, and Jennifer Irene of Denver, CO; and great-grandson Brendan Eric Macaluso born in Nov., 2011.
She was a very supportive, loving mother and grandmother, and never missed a performance, concert, or recital of her daughter or grandchildren. She loved to go out to the movies and out to eat at restaurants (she didn't cook once she retired!) and she loved strawberry milk shakes from Sonic Drive-In.
She will be forever loved, and greatly missed by family and friends.
Arrangements entrusted to Olinger Highland Mortuary and Cemetery in Thornton, CO; and entombment at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO.
